Stained Glass & Magnolias Vase

Is it bragging to say that this vase is perfection? (Probably. I like this one so much I almost kept it, but that felt selfish.) It’s nice and wide to accommodate extra large floral arrangements, and has an altered rim for extra interest. With a vibrant translucent green and black and white Magnolia Blossom pattern in geometric sections set in a matte black glaze for a stained glass window effect, this vase is absolutely lovely.

This piece was wheel thrown with porcelain clay, then refined through trimming/sanding. After firing, the piece was cleaned, and thin strips of tape were applied in a geometric pattern. Magnolia underglaze transfers (from Elan Transfers) were applied to some portions, glazed clear, and then waxed to protect them. The green glaze was then applied to the additional geometric sections, and waxed for protection. After the tape was removed the rest of the piece was finished with a velvety matte black glaze.
